This series began year two of Covid-19. It started as a set of colored-pencil sketches that I eventually painted on canvas over the following year. Covid fatigue has set in by this time and it felt as though we were never coming out of it. I wanted to paint something optimistic; out of the dark tunnel into the bright desert sun where strange, weird and mysterious flowers bloom like miracles.
