Riveter Collection

In this collection, I explore the art of calligraphy in an abstract form. I’ve long been interested in and fond of the art of calligraphy, especially the eastern calligraphy. In East Asia, calligraphy has been viewed as a highest form of art connecting the language and the abstract beauty of lines and rhythm through how it’s written while also expressing one’s emotions. In these works, by incorporating expressive elements of lines (and brush work) and rhythm but also, by deconstructing the recognizable part of the text (for western calligraphy) or the character, I attempt to create a purely visual artistic language—the kind that the viewer can interpret freely and be moved by it. This collection was part of my first solo exhibition.
